Day 10 Challenge Ombre Nails
I really wish I had taken better pictures…I made it this far…can you believe it?!
This is a challenge that I didn’t know how to do at first. Everytime I think of Ombre Nails, I think of gradient manicures…and I had done it before…and it was filed under Epic Fail Manis. This is a different version of it and difficult in its own right.
I started out with CNDs Eclectic Purple and China Glaze’s White on White. Grabbed a plastic paint mixer palette for artists and went to town. This is my very first attempt and what I’ve learned is…just because the colors look slightly lighter/darker than the previous nail, it will not show up on the camera!
Here are the ratios I used:
Thumb: 10 drops China Glaze White on White, 1 drop Eclectic Purple
Pointer Finger: 8 drops China Glaze White on White, 1 drop Eclectic Purple
Middle Finger: 5 drops China Glaze White on White, 1 drop Eclectic Purple
Ring Finger: 1 drop China Glaze White on White, 1 drop Eclectic Purple
Pinky: Eclectic Purple
What did I learn? I learned I need to play around more with different colors. I had only worn this mani for under 24 hours and I think the China Glaze seriously compromised CND’s formula. I’ve worn Eclectic Purple before and I got a mega long manicure out of it. I noticed that the fingers that chipped were the ones I mixed with CG. Boo.
Also, CND is richly pigmented. Incredibly, luxuriously pigmented. I should’ve changed the ratios a bit more, but eh…It was my first time doing this. I’ve learned for next time.
So this is the last bit of the challenges and I think I will be doing my own challenge after this — it will be untrieds for the rest of the year. I know I’d better get swatching because the sun is out for a short time AND I’m going on vacation for 2 weeks. OY VEY!

Yay for purple.
I like this version of the Ombre nails. I didn’t think of mixing a particular with white! Duhh.. that is so genius of you. I was thinking I would need different polishes that were close in color. Should have thought of mixing with white! Lol…
Anyway, I love the purple, and I’m so proud of us for completing the 10 days challenge. Whoot whoot. I can’t wait to see what other things you come up with after this challenge.

P.S: Did you have to dry the CND polish under UV lamp? Or do they have polishes that air dry?
