Day 5 Challenge — blue nails!
So this was some brilliant tape idea that was running through my head. As always, the reality is never the correct one, is it?
I had accidentally used up all the sticky part on the tape. That led to gaps because there wasn’t enough tackiness to hold the strip to the nail…and polish totally slipped under. The base is my favorite blue — Finger Prints Blissfully Blue and the darker blue was Nubar’s Peacock Feathers.
I had this vision that the light sky blue base would stand out…and it does. I also had visions of a duo-chrome Peacock Feather layer. Unfortunately, it had been so long since I had last worn or even thought about Peacock Feathers, that I totally forgot that it didn’t do any of the awesome green-blue flashes. I think I have a dud bottle of this shade. BOOOOOO.
Peacock Feathers took forever to dry. I had given it 15 minutes to dry. I applied the fast drying topcoat and then BAM…streaks. I nearly lost it. I almost scrapped this challenge and started again, but it was late. I was tired. I was cranky. So I just left it so you can see how sad it is.

Which fast drying topcoat do you use? usually when I have two colors or a design that I don’t want to streak, I apply a thick (one coat) of Seche vite. Thick so that my brush doesn’t touch the design or the polishes.
Of course this doesn’t always mean no streaks, but my chances of no streaks are greater when I do this. I make sure I have enough polish on the brush such that the brush won’t come in contact with my nail/design.
Nonetheless though, I love the idea behind this. I’m gonna be doing some interesting stuffs with tapes after our challenge.
This light blue really does pop! Owwiie.. I love it!

I actually use Poshe as my fast drying top coat. I can’t use Seche Vite because of the formaldehyde. I get sick the moment I open the bottle.
This challenge is making its way through my remover bottle – lol. Why does all the misstakes have to come now. Streaks are a pain. You are just done and then BAM!
Wonder what day I could use tape – oooh or foil…
