Rescue Beauty Lounge – Film Noir

by carinaeletoile

I had been gagging for this lovely dark creme. On RBL’s site it’s described as “Black orchid. Not for the faint-hearted. The intensely dark violet of a moonless midnight sky.”

I was truly hoping for a deep, dark, black-purple…a hearkening back to my silly goth club days. Sadly, this did not deliver. :( Sad panda I am. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous color but I just…was hoping for so much more. The formula was great because it was very opaque in 2 thin coats. However, RBL’s formulas for me have been hit and miss – this was a miss. It took forever to dry.

OPI – Vodka and Caviar and Catherine The Grape

by carinaeletoile

This particular shade of red is one that I had been trying to obtain for some time. The Russian Collection is a bit hard to pull together and I’ve still yet to get my little hands on Kreme de la Kremlin, Cosmo Not Tonight Honey, St Petersburgundy and Ruble For Your Thoughts.

Now that I’ve got Vodka and Caviar, I really do love it. I know it looks like every other OPI red out there and face it – OPI has always gone overboard on red. I know I’m not the only one to complain about it. ;)

So here is OPI in their full, overkill red glory…which they’ve called Vodka and Caviar. Their other color that I love is Catherine the Grape.

Catherine the Grape is a very pretty purple with a plum/red shimmer running through it. It is definitely a gorgeous color! I’d say it’s one of the must haves of this collection.

Rescue Beauty Lounge – Dead Calm

by carinaeletoile

I really don’t associate this shade with calm, rather it’s a serene blue…but still a gorgeous one nonetheless.

By far this was the best of all the RBLs I’ve ever used in terms of application and drying time…I was most impressed! Wonderfully opaque – this was 2 very thin coats.

What do you think?

Barielle – Lava Rock

by carinaeletoile

Ok, I admit to being heavy handed in the application of this polish, but it was really my fault. I was being clumsy and messed up my nails a few times and rather than start from scratch I kept piling on the color. You can see the wrinkled result under my fast drying top coat.

Despite my bad application this polish color was absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait until I actually put it on properly – 2 thin coats and a top coat!

Inglot #710

by carinaeletoile

My first introduction to matte nail polish was by way of this brand, Inglot, in the Spring of 2009 when I was living in India. I couldn’t wrap my head around people simply not wanting a shiny finish! While this finish wasn’t 100% matte, it was very nice – like candle wax. It dried quickly but even with thin applications, this tended to bubble.

This is a gorgeous midnight blue.

What do you think?

Rescue Beauty Lounge – Under The Stars

by carinaeletoile

Ah…a gorgeous dark color with some beautiful blue glitter against a dark blue-black background.

This was a 2 coater and the glitter was very subtle, despite the appearance of the bottle. However, it’s glitter and was a bit difficult to remove because it’s so small…and so spaced out. I did love this, though. Absolutely GORGEOUS!

It is no Yoga-ta Get This Blue, it is pretty darn close! However, Yoga is a lot cheaper than RBL.

Rescue Beauty Lounge – Grunge

by carinaeletoile

Ahh…I love the subtlety of this color despite its name. It sounds like it would’ve been hardcore and the only punch it packs is a gentle, delicate one. Very feminine and very pretty – definitely a favorite of mine!

I hope it becomes a favorite of yours. :)

Just futzing about while I work around the house. Note to self: never collect so much shredding EVER again.

Rescue Beauty Lounge – Bruised

by carinaeletoile

I love this color from RBL – I actually do wear it a bit. It’s dark enough but still respectable for people who work in a conservative environment.

It’s a gorgeous creme, but I do admit the drying time was a bit longer than what I wanted it to be. However, it had a lovely high gloss finish and putting a top coat on was merely gilding the lily.

This swatch was a 2 coater – lovely and opaque from the first stroke. *sighs*

NFU Oh #60

by carinaeletoile

Ok, I can’t believe that I haven’t put this up yet!

While this has a black jelly base, the glitter has some wonderful play that couldn’t be captured…but if you ever do decide to get this you will definitely NOT be let down.

You can click the thumbnail for a bigger picture, which in turn will take you to a slightly bigger version. If you click on the slightly bigger version, it will take you to the original size of the photo which is pretty darn hyoooooge. The disadvantage to that you will see my bad cuticles. :(

While you can’t see it, there is some wonderful green, blue, gold and orange play in the glitter. You can see the green and blue at the base of the bottle in the shade shot. Then on my nails in the picture above, you see the gold and orange come into play.

The sun washed out the shot…rather, the angle of which I let the sun hit my nails washed it out. I had a very blurry one that showed the colors in all their glory. I should’ve kept that one. Grrr…
